Secrecy Never Becomes the Church

April 8, 2008

I was just listening to an archived Issues, Etc. program and something Todd said stuck out at me. It was in an audio open lines segment where they were playing audio from a Dateline NBC investigation of Benny Hinn’s ministry. (This is from the second hour of the March 7th, 2005 show). Todd said something brilliant that applies very well to the current situation:

“Secrecy never becomes the church or any ministry of the church. Never. When secrecy becomes the order of the day, mark my words, when secrecy becomes the order of the day in any institution of the church (congregation, parachurch organization, denomination), when secrecy and back-room deals become the order of the day, something is wrong.”
